To determine if a phone problems is caused from your wiring or equipment, use a screwdriver to open the protector.

If you can see that your wiring is faulty, you can do the repairs yourself or contact Western Iowa Telephone to do the repairs for you. Please note that there is a minimum $40 service charge for repairs.

Unplug the top wire and plug a standard phone line into the jack. If the phone works here, but not inside your house, this is a good indication that the problem is inside and is your responsibility to fix. If we do the repair, there will be a service charge for repairs.

If the phone DOES NOT work outside, there is a good chance that the problem is Western Iowa Telephone's. You should contact us to send a tech. If the problem is ours, in most instances, there will be no charge.
